The front timing chain cover is fitted to the front of the engine and encloses the timing chain area, helping protect the timing chain, guides, sprockets and oil sealing surfaces. It also forms part of the front engine sealing system, working with the sump/oil pan, front crank seal and surrounding sealant surfaces to help prevent oil leaks.
