Genuine Mazda NE51-34-156 Front Anti-Roll Bar D-Bush
Replacement Genuine Mazda front anti-roll bar mounting bush for Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Mk3.5 and Mk3.75 NC soft-top models only.
The front anti-roll bar connects the left and right sides of the front suspension. As the vehicle corners, the bar twists to help limit body roll and maintain more controlled suspension movement.
This split rubber D-shaped bush fits around the front anti-roll bar and is retained against the front subframe or crossmember by its mounting bracket. It supports the anti-roll bar while allowing the limited rotational movement required as the suspension operates.
As the rubber ages, it can harden, split, compress or wear away internally. This may allow the anti-roll bar to move inside the mounting bracket and create knocking or rattling noises over uneven road surfaces.
There are two bushes fitted per vehicle, one on the left and one on the right. This listing supplies one Genuine Mazda bush, so select a quantity of two when replacing both sides.
Important body-style distinction: This part is specifically intended for MX-5 NC fabric soft-top vehicles. Mazda uses a different front anti-roll bar bush on Power Retractable Hard Top — PRHT — models. The two versions may appear similar but have a different bush specification and should not be interchanged without confirming the original application.

Possible signs of worn anti-roll bar bushes:
- Knocking or rattling from the front suspension over uneven roads
- Noise when driving over speed humps or broken surfaces
- Visible splitting, cracking or compression of the rubber bush
- Excessive anti-roll bar movement inside the mounting bracket
- Reduced front-end precision or a less settled feel during direction changes
Fitment advice: Confirm that the vehicle is a fabric soft-top MX-5 NC before ordering. Power Retractable Hard Top models use a separate Mazda front anti-roll bar bush. Compare the original bush and anti-roll bar installation where the vehicle has modified suspension or a replacement anti-roll bar.
Other items to consider: Inspect the bush on the opposite side, both mounting brackets, bracket bolts, front anti-roll bar, anti-roll bar drop links and associated ball-joint boots. Bushes are normally replaced as a left-and-right pair to maintain consistent support across the bar.
Useful tools / consumables: Suitable socket and ratchet set, extension bars, penetrating fluid, calibrated torque wrench, wire brush, vehicle lift or axle stands and a rubber-compatible installation lubricant where permitted by the Mazda workshop procedure.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Moderate. The bushes are mounted beneath the front of the vehicle, and access to the retaining brackets may be restricted. The vehicle must be raised and supported safely before work begins.
Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda anti-roll bar bushes are manufactured to match the original bar diameter, bracket shape, rubber profile and application-specific stiffness. This is particularly important on the MX-5 NC because Mazda specifies different bushes for soft-top and PRHT body configurations.
What’s in the box: One Genuine Mazda front anti-roll bar D-bush, part number NE51-34-156. Mounting bracket and bolts are not included.
Installation notes: Raise and support the vehicle safely. Clean the anti-roll bar and surrounding bracket area before removing the original bush. Inspect the bar for corrosion or wear where it contacts the bush. Open the split in the replacement bush, position it around the bar in the same orientation as the original and refit the retaining bracket. Start both bracket bolts by hand and tighten them evenly to the applicable Mazda workshop specification. Recheck the installation for correct seating and clearance before returning the vehicle to service.
