Genuine Mazda LF01-11-511 Flywheel-to-Crankshaft Locking Bolt
Replacement Genuine Mazda flywheel locking bolt for Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Mk3.5 and Mk3.75 NC, plus Mk4 ND and RF models with manual transmission.
This bolt passes through the flywheel and threads into the rear flange of the crankshaft. Together with the remaining flywheel bolts, it provides the clamping force required to secure the flywheel concentrically and firmly against the crankshaft.
Flywheel bolts are subjected to substantial clamping loads, repeated engine-speed changes and torque reversals. Correct fastener condition, tightening sequence and thread preparation are therefore critical whenever the flywheel is removed.
Six bolts are used to secure the flywheel on the applicable MX-5 engines. This listing supplies one Genuine Mazda bolt, so select a quantity of six when replacing the complete set.
The bolt is supplied ready for installation with pre-applied thread-locking compound. Avoid contaminating or removing the applied locking material before installation.

Fitment advice: This bolt is intended for the original flywheel fitted to applicable Mazda MX-5 NC and ND/RF manual-transmission models. Automatic vehicles use a drive plate rather than a conventional manual flywheel and must not be included. Confirm fastener requirements where a lightweight or aftermarket flywheel has been installed.
Other items to consider: Inspect the remaining flywheel bolts, crankshaft flange threads, flywheel mounting face, starter ring gear, clutch friction plate, clutch cover, release bearing, pilot-bearing arrangement and rear crankshaft oil seal.
Useful tools / consumables: Transmission jack, flywheel holding tool, suitable socket and breaker bar, calibrated torque wrench, angle gauge where required by the Mazda procedure, thread-cleaning equipment and brake cleaner for the flywheel and clutch surfaces.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Advanced. The gearbox, clutch and flywheel must be removed or supported correctly. Accurate tightening is essential because loose, unevenly tightened or incorrect bolts can damage the flywheel, crankshaft or transmission.
Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda flywheel bolts are manufactured to match the original crankshaft thread, bolt length, head profile, strength specification and tightening characteristics. Correct fasteners help maintain the designed flywheel clamping load and concentric location.
What’s in the box: One Genuine Mazda flywheel-to-crankshaft locking bolt with pre-applied thread-locking compound, part number LF01-11-511.
Installation notes: Support the engine and gearbox correctly before removing the transmission. Mark the flywheel position if required by the applicable procedure, then restrain the flywheel using a suitable holding tool. Clean and inspect the crankshaft flange, flywheel mounting face and threaded holes. Do not lubricate the bolts unless specifically instructed by Mazda, as lubricant can alter the achieved clamping load. Install all six bolts by hand, tighten them progressively in a diagonal sequence and apply the specified torque and any required angular stage. Confirm that the flywheel rotates without interference before refitting the clutch and gearbox.
