Genuine Mazda 9YA0-21-223A Suspension Arm / Wishbone / Shock Absorber Mounting Bolt
Replacement Genuine Mazda suspension mounting bolt for Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Mk3.5 and Mk3.75 NC models.
This multi-position bolt is used within both the front and rear suspension assemblies at mounting points where Mazda specifies a standard non-eccentric fixing bolt.
Confirmed MX-5 NC uses include selected rear trailing and lateral link arms where they attach to the rear subframe or wheel knuckle, the front upper wishbones where they attach to the front subframe, and the lower front shock absorbers where they attach to the lower wishbones.
The bolt passes through the suspension-arm bush, shock-absorber eye or associated mounting bracket and provides the clamping force required to retain the component securely while allowing the suspension bush or joint to operate as designed.
This is a standard suspension bolt and should not be confused with the eccentric cam bolts used at adjustable wheel-alignment positions.
Fourteen bolts are used across all of the listed MX-5 NC positions. This listing supplies one Genuine Mazda bolt, so select the required quantity according to the repair being carried out.
Replacement should be considered where the original bolt is seized, heavily corroded, bent, stretched, cross-threaded or damaged during suspension dismantling.

Fitment advice: Several visually similar bolts are used throughout the MX-5 NC suspension. Confirm the original mounting position and Mazda reference before installation. This bolt is used at standard fixing positions and is not a substitute for an eccentric wheel-alignment bolt.
Other items to consider: Inspect the corresponding retaining nut, suspension-arm bush, shock-absorber eye, mounting brackets and the equivalent fastener on the opposite side. Replace any nut or bolt with damaged, stretched or heavily corroded threads.
Useful tools / consumables: Suitable socket and spanner set, breaker bar, penetrating fluid, calibrated torque wrench, wire brush, suspension support equipment and wheel-alignment equipment where the suspension geometry has been disturbed.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Moderate to Advanced. The applicable suspension arm or shock absorber must be supported correctly before the bolt is removed. Corrosion may cause the bolt to seize within the bush sleeve, potentially requiring cutting or specialist extraction equipment.
Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda suspension bolts are manufactured to match the original diameter, thread, length, strength specification and mounting arrangement required by the vehicle. Correct hardware helps maintain the intended clamping force and compatibility with the original suspension bushes, brackets and retaining nuts.
What’s in the box: One Genuine Mazda suspension arm / wishbone / shock absorber mounting bolt, part number 9YA0-21-223A. Retaining nut not included.
Installation notes: Support the suspension component safely before loosening the mounting hardware. Clean and inspect the mounting bores, bush sleeve and retaining-nut threads before installation. Insert the replacement bolt in the original direction and start the nut by hand to prevent cross-threading. Where the bolt passes through a bonded rubber bush, carry out final tightening with the suspension positioned at its normal ride height unless the applicable Mazda procedure states otherwise. Tighten to the workshop specification for the exact mounting position and check wheel alignment where necessary.
