Replacement Musashi differential side / driveshaft oil seal for Mazda MX-5 Mk1 NA 1.8 and Mk2 / Mk2.5 NB 1.6 & 1.8 models listed in the compatibility table.

Designed as an aftermarket replacement for the original component, this oil seal is fitted at the side of the rear differential where the driveshaft enters the differential housing. It retains differential oil around the rotating driveshaft while helping prevent contamination entering the differential assembly.

Two seals are used per vehicle, one for each differential side / driveshaft position. This product is supplied individually, so two should be ordered when replacing both sides.

Common reasons for replacement include differential oil weeping around the driveshaft entry point, a hardened or damaged sealing lip, or preventative replacement while the driveshaft is already removed for differential, bearing or suspension work.

Fitment advice: Suitable for the confirmed Mazda MX-5 Mk1 1.8 and Mk2 / Mk2.5 1.6 and 1.8 applications listed in the compatibility table. Early Mk1 1.6 models require a different seal and are not included in this fitment.

Installation notes: Clean the surrounding area before removing the existing seal. Inspect the driveshaft sealing surface and differential housing for wear, scoring, corrosion or damage. Remove the old seal without damaging the housing, lubricate the sealing lip where appropriate and install the replacement squarely using a suitable seal driver. Ensure the sealing lip is not folded or damaged during installation and replenish any differential oil lost during the repair with the correct specification fluid.
