Genuine Mazda R2Y1-10-431 Grey Silicone Liquid Gasket / RTV Sealant – 330ml

Genuine Mazda grey silicone liquid gasket for Mazda MX-5 Mk1 NA, Mk2 NB, Mk2.5 NB-FL, Mk3 NC and Mk4 ND/RF models, where the applicable Mazda workshop procedure specifies silicone-type liquid gasket.

This room-temperature-vulcanising sealant is applied as a controlled bead between prepared mating surfaces. Once assembled and cured, it forms a flexible sealing layer that accommodates minor surface irregularities and the expansion and contraction of engine or transmission housings.

Mazda uses liquid gasket on numerous machined flange joints that were not designed to use a separate pre-cut gasket. Depending on the vehicle and component, applications may include engine covers, timing covers, oil pans, rear engine-cover joints, transmission housings and other oil-retaining assemblies.

Application restriction: Use this product only where the applicable Mazda workshop procedure specifies silicone-type liquid gasket. It should not be substituted indiscriminately for conventional rubber, metal, paper or composite gaskets.

The product is supplied in one 330ml tube. The quantity required depends on the joint length, specified bead diameter and number of components being assembled.

Fitment advice: This is a workshop consumable rather than a component with a single fixed installation position. Always consult the procedure for the specific engine, gearbox or housing being assembled. Follow Mazda’s instructions for bead diameter, bead route, application around bolt holes, assembly time and curing period.

Surface preparation: Both mating faces must be clean, dry and free from old sealant, oil, coolant and loose corrosion. Remove residue using tools that will not score or distort aluminium sealing surfaces. Avoid allowing removed sealant or debris to enter oilways, coolant passages or the interior of the assembly.

Other items to consider: Inspect the component for distortion, cracking, corrosion and damaged fastener holes. Replace any conventional seals, O-rings or gaskets disturbed during the repair. Check all mounting bolts and threaded holes before applying the new sealant.

Useful tools / consumables: Plastic gasket scraper, suitable solvent or brake cleaner, lint-free cloths, torque wrench, thread-cleaning tools, application nozzle and any replacement seals or fasteners specified for the component.

Difficulty guide: Application dependent. Applying the bead is straightforward, but incorrect surface preparation, excessive sealant, an incomplete bead or delayed assembly can cause leakage or allow cured material to enter internal oilways.

Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda liquid gasket is intended for Mazda engine and transmission sealing procedures where the specified bead properties, curing behaviour and compatibility with the original housing materials are important. Using the correct sealant helps reproduce the original formed-in-place joint.

What’s in the box: One 330ml tube of Genuine Mazda grey silicone liquid gasket / RTV sealant, part number R2Y1-10-431.

Installation notes: Remove all previous sealant without damaging the mating faces. Degrease and dry both surfaces thoroughly. Apply one continuous bead in the exact location and diameter specified by Mazda, taking particular care around bolt holes, oil passages and joint intersections. Assemble the components within the prescribed working time and tighten the fasteners progressively in the correct sequence. Remove only external excess where appropriate and allow the sealant to cure for the period stated in the workshop procedure or on the supplied packaging before adding fluids or operating the assembly.
