Fits Mazda MX-5 Mk2 / Mk2.5 NB 1.8 Sport models from 2001-2005 using the larger 275mm solid rear brake discs with Akebono rear calipers. This is the Sport / larger rear brake setup and is not suitable for NB models using the smaller standard rear brake arrangement.

Yellowstuff Brake Pads

EBC Yellowstuff is a high-friction performance brake pad developed primarily for fast-road use. It offers strong braking performance from cold together with increased resistance to repeated heavy braking, making it well suited to enthusiast-driven MX-5s where more braking capability is required than from a conventional everyday replacement pad.

The Yellowstuff compound incorporates EBC's Brake-In™ surface coating to assist initial bedding and uses a fully shimmed, slotted and chamfered construction. EBC currently positions Yellowstuff as a premium fast-street pad rather than its preferred dedicated track compound.

For an MX-5 intended for repeated circuit use, EBC recommends moving to Bluestuff or one of its more track-focused compounds, particularly where rapid bedding and sustained higher-temperature performance are important.

EBC Premium OE Replacement Brake Discs

The matching D1255 discs are EBC Premium plain brake discs designed as direct replacements for the original larger rear discs fitted to the applicable MX-5 NB Sport braking system.

Fitment Advice:

This kit is specifically for MX-5 Mk2 / Mk2.5 NB 1.8 Sport applications using the 275mm solid rear brake discs with Akebono rear calipers.

Other MX-5 NB models can use a different rear disc diameter and brake arrangement, so this kit should not be selected simply because the vehicle is an NB 1.8.

For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number or component style on the part being replaced is recommended.

Rear brake discs should be installed onto thoroughly cleaned and corrosion-free hub faces. Care should be taken when retracting the rear caliper pistons because the rear calipers incorporate the mechanical handbrake mechanism. All fasteners should be tightened to the appropriate Mazda torque specification.

New pads and discs should be progressively bedded according to EBC's current bedding procedure before sustained heavy braking.
