Fits Mazda MX-5 Mk2 / Mk2.5 NB 1.8 Sport models using the larger 269/270mm vented front brake discs and Sumitomo front calipers, including Sport LSD applications. EBC application data lists this braking setup for 2001-2005 models.
The EBC PD14KF439 front brake upgrade kit combines a complete axle set of EBC Bluestuff NDX performance brake pads with a matched pair of EBC GD Sport dimpled and grooved front brake discs. It is designed as a direct-fit performance upgrade for MX-5 Mk2 / NB Sport models equipped with the larger factory front brake package.
The kit consists of DP51452NDX Bluestuff NDX front brake pads and GD1254 GD Sport front brake discs, providing a matched EBC package suitable for demanding fast-road driving and lighter track use.

Bluestuff NDX Brake Pads
EBC Bluestuff NDX is a high-friction performance compound developed to bridge the gap between fast-road and trackday use. EBC rates the NDX material at approximately 0.52 Mu and positions it for drivers who use their car on the road but also require increased temperature capability and fade resistance for lighter circuit work and entry-level club-level use.
Bluestuff NDX pads are heat scorched to assist the bedding process and provide useful braking performance from cold once correctly bedded. This particular MX-5 application is listed by EBC as R90 approved and track suitable.
EBC GD Sport Brake Discs
The matching GD1254 discs use EBC's GD Sport wide-aperture groove and dimple design. The grooves help remove water, dust and debris from the braking area while helping maintain an even pad contact surface. The blind dimples provide a pad-degassing effect without using fully through-drilled holes.
The GD1254 is a direct-fit replacement for the larger factory front disc used on the applicable MX-5 Sport braking system, retaining the original 4 x 100mm mounting arrangement and 269mm nominal disc diameter.
Typical Reasons for Replacement or Upgrade:
- Existing front discs have reached or are approaching minimum thickness
- Brake discs are heavily corroded, scored or suffering from excessive runout
- Existing front brake pads are worn
- Upgrading a Sport-equipped MX-5 for more demanding fast-road use
- Preparing a suitable road car for occasional trackday use
- Replacing pads and discs together with a matched EBC performance package
Fitment Advice:
This kit is specifically intended for the larger 269/270mm front brake arrangement with Sumitomo calipers. It should not be confused with the smaller approximately 255mm front brake setup fitted to many other MX-5 Mk2 / NB models.
Because brake specifications can vary between trim levels and cars may have been modified during their life, checking the diameter of the existing front disc is strongly recommended. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number or component style on the part being replaced is recommended.
Brake discs should be installed onto clean, corrosion-free hub faces and all fasteners tightened to the correct Mazda torque specification. New pads and discs must be progressively bedded according to EBC's current bedding procedure before sustained heavy braking or circuit use.
Other Items to Consider:
- Matching EBC rear brake pads and discs
- High-performance brake fluid
- Braided brake hoses
- Brake fitting hardware where worn or corroded
- Brake cleaner
- Suitable brake lubricant for approved contact points
Useful Tools:
- Torque wrench
- Brake piston compression tool
- Brake cleaner
- Wire brush or hub-cleaning tool
- Dial indicator where checking disc runout
Difficulty Guide: Intermediate. Brake-system work requires safe vehicle lifting, correct component preparation and accurate torque procedures. Professional installation is recommended where the installer is not experienced with brake servicing.
