RIDEX 305P0549 Alternator & Air Conditioning Auxiliary Belt

Replacement RIDEX auxiliary drive belt for Mazda MX-5 Mk4/ND and RF 1.5 and 2.0-litre petrol models listed in the compatibility table.

The auxiliary belt transfers rotation from the crankshaft pulley to the engine’s belt-driven accessories. On the applicable MX-5 ND installation, it drives the alternator and air-conditioning compressor, allowing the alternator to charge the battery and the air-conditioning system to operate.

This is a six-rib, one-sided EPDM belt measuring 955 mm long. It is installed around the applicable crankshaft, alternator, air-conditioning and tensioner pulleys. One belt is required per applicable accessory-drive system and one belt is supplied.

Common reasons for replacement include cracking between the ribs, glazing, frayed edges, contamination, squealing, visible deterioration, charging-system faults or air-conditioning operation being affected by belt slip.

Fitment advice: This belt corresponds with Mazda references P301-15-909B, P301-15-909C and P51D-15-909. It is intended for the alternator and air-conditioning drive arrangement on the listed Mazda MX-5 ND and RF 1.5 and 2.0-litre models. Accessory-drive specification can vary where pulleys, compressors or engines have previously been replaced. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number, six-rib profile and original belt length is recommended.

Other items to consider: When changing this part, you may also want to consider purchasing the auxiliary-belt tensioner, idler pulley, crankshaft pulley, alternator pulley or the vehicle’s other separate accessory belt where fitted.

Useful tools / consumables: Socket and spanner set, auxiliary-belt tensioner tool or long-handled ratchet, torque wrench, inspection lamp, belt-routing reference and suitable protective gloves.

Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Easy to Moderate. Replacement requires safe release of the spring-loaded tensioner and correct routing of the new belt around every pulley.

Why RIDEX? RIDEX parts are aftermarket replacement components designed to provide a cost-effective repair option for everyday vehicle maintenance and refurbishment. They are intended to replace the original component on the applications listed, helping restore function while keeping repair costs sensible.

What’s in the box: One RIDEX 955 mm six-rib auxiliary drive belt. Tensioners, idler pulleys and mounting hardware are separate components.

Installation notes: Allow the engine to cool and note the existing belt-routing path before removal. Inspect the crankshaft, alternator, air-conditioning and tensioner pulleys for rough bearings, misalignment, contamination or damaged grooves. Rotate the belt tensioner using the appropriate tool and remove the old belt without allowing the tensioner to snap back. Route the replacement belt correctly around every pulley and ensure that all six ribs sit fully inside the corresponding pulley grooves. Release the tensioner gradually, rotate the engine manually where appropriate and recheck the routing before starting. Run the engine briefly and confirm that the belt tracks centrally without noise, vibration or movement towards the edge of any pulley.
