RIDEX 3229S0049 Front Anti-Roll Bar Drop Link – LH
Replacement RIDEX front-left anti-roll-bar drop link for Mazda MX-5 Mk2/NB, Mk2.5/NB-FL and Mk3/NC models, plus selected Mazda RX-8, CX-7 and earlier Mazda applications listed in the compatibility table.
The drop link connects the front anti-roll bar to the suspension assembly. As the suspension moves, the link transfers force into the anti-roll bar to help resist excessive body roll during cornering and maintain more controlled handling.
This component is specifically designed for the left-hand side of the front axle. One link is required on the front-left side and one link is supplied. The corresponding front-right link is a separate handed component.
Common symptoms of wear include knocking or rattling over uneven roads, looseness from the front suspension, increased body movement during cornering, damaged joint boots or free play detected during an MOT inspection.

Fitment advice: This is a handed front-left component and should not be installed on the front-right side. It corresponds with the Mazda reference numbers shown in the reference table. Suspension specification can vary where anti-roll bars, dampers or replacement suspension components have previously been changed. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the Mazda reference, length, thread sizes and joint orientation on the part being replaced is recommended.
Other items to consider: When changing this part, you may also want to consider purchasing the corresponding front-right drop link, anti-roll-bar mounting bushes, drop-link retaining nuts, suspension-arm components, shock absorbers and any required replacement self-locking fixings.
Useful tools / consumables: Vehicle lift or trolley jack and axle stands, wheel-removal tools, socket and spanner set, hex or Torx holding tools where required, torque wrench, penetrating fluid, wire brush and suitable anti-corrosion compound.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Easy to Moderate. Replacement normally requires removal of the front wheel and release of the upper and lower drop-link fixings. Corrosion or a spinning ball-joint pin can make removal more difficult.
Why RIDEX? RIDEX parts are aftermarket replacement components designed to provide a cost-effective repair option for everyday vehicle maintenance and refurbishment. They are intended to replace the original component on the applications listed, helping restore function while keeping repair costs sensible.
What’s in the box: One RIDEX front-left anti-roll-bar drop link. The corresponding right-hand link is not included. Separate nuts or fitting hardware should only be assumed included where physically present in the supplied package.
Installation notes: Support the vehicle securely and remove the front-left road wheel where required for access. Support the suspension so the anti-roll bar is not placed under excessive twist. Apply penetrating fluid to the original fixings and use the appropriate internal holding feature if the ball-joint pin begins to rotate. Remove the worn link and inspect the anti-roll bar, mounting brackets and surrounding suspension components for damage or excessive play. Install the replacement link in the same orientation as the original, using new self-locking nuts where specified. Tighten the fixings to the applicable vehicle specifications and check that the joint boots are not twisted or damaged. Recheck the installation after lowering the vehicle and investigate any continuing suspension noise.
