RIDEX 305P0248 Engine Auxiliary Belt – Non Air Con

Replacement RIDEX engine auxiliary drive belt for Mazda MX-5 Mk3/NC, Mk3.5/NC-FL and Mk3.75/NC-FL2 1.8 and 2.0-litre models without air conditioning listed in the compatibility table.

The auxiliary belt transfers rotation from the crankshaft pulley to the engine’s belt-driven accessories. On the applicable non-air-conditioned MX-5 NC installation, it drives components including the alternator, engine water pump and hydraulic power-steering pump.

This is a six-rib, one-sided EPDM belt measuring 2170 mm long. One belt is required for the applicable accessory-drive system and one belt is supplied.

Important: This belt is intended for vehicles without air conditioning. MX-5 NC models equipped with factory air conditioning require a different, longer auxiliary belt.

Common reasons for replacement include cracking between the ribs, glazing, frayed edges, stretching, contamination, belt squeal, charging-system faults, intermittent power-steering assistance, overheating caused by reduced water-pump drive or visible deterioration during routine servicing.

Fitment advice: This belt is intended for Mazda MX-5 Mk3/NC 1.8 and 2.0-litre models using the non-air-conditioning accessory-drive arrangement. Vehicles fitted with factory air conditioning require a different belt. Accessory-drive specification can vary where an engine, alternator, water pump, power-steering pump or pulley has previously been replaced. Match the original belt profile, six-rib construction, length and Mazda reference before installation.

Other items to consider: When changing this part, you may also want to consider purchasing the auxiliary-belt tensioner, idler pulleys, crankshaft pulley, alternator pulley, water pump, power-steering-pump pulley and any worn or corroded belt-routing components.

Useful tools / consumables: Socket and spanner set, long-handled ratchet or belt-tensioner tool, torque wrench, inspection lamp, belt-routing reference and suitable protective gloves.

Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Easy to Moderate. Replacement requires controlled release of the spring-loaded belt tensioner and accurate routing of the new belt around each accessory pulley.

Why RIDEX? RIDEX parts are aftermarket replacement components designed to provide a cost-effective repair option for routine vehicle servicing and refurbishment. They are manufactured to application-specific dimensions and intended to replace the original component on the vehicles listed.

What’s in the box: One RIDEX 2170 mm six-rib engine auxiliary belt. Tensioners, idler pulleys and mounting hardware are not included.

Installation notes: Allow the engine to cool and record the existing belt-routing path before removal. Inspect the crankshaft, alternator, water-pump, power-steering and tensioner pulleys for rough bearings, damaged grooves, misalignment or contamination. Rotate the automatic tensioner using the appropriate tool and remove the old belt without allowing the tensioner to snap back. Route the replacement belt correctly around every pulley and ensure that all six ribs sit fully inside the corresponding pulley grooves. Release the tensioner gradually and confirm that the belt is correctly seated. Rotate the engine manually where appropriate and recheck the routing before starting. Run the engine briefly and confirm that the belt tracks centrally without squealing, vibration or movement towards the edge of any pulley.
