RIDEX 83B0205 Front Left Brake Hose – MX-5 NA/NB Standard Brakes

Replacement RIDEX flexible hydraulic brake hose for the front-left / UK nearside of Mazda MX-5 Mk1/NA, Mk2/NB and applicable Mk2.5/NB-FL models fitted with the standard braking system.

The flexible brake hose carries pressurised brake fluid between the vehicle’s rigid hydraulic brake pipe and the moving front brake caliper. Its reinforced flexible construction allows normal steering and suspension movement while maintaining hydraulic braking pressure.

Side identification: This is the front-left hose, which is the nearside on UK right-hand-drive vehicles. RIDEX 83B0204 is the corresponding front-right / UK offside hose.

Important fitment restriction: Mazda MX-5 Mk2.5/NB-FL vehicles fitted with the factory big-brake system require a different hose. This product should only be fitted where the vehicle retains the applicable standard front brake arrangement.

Common reasons for replacement include cracking or perishing of the flexible hose, bulging under braking pressure, corrosion around the metal fittings, brake-fluid leakage, damaged mounting points or internal deterioration that can restrict fluid flow and cause a brake to bind or release slowly.

  • Part type: Flexible hydraulic brake hose

Fitment advice: This hose corresponds with Mazda references NA01-43-820, NA01-43-820A, NA01-43-820B, NA75-43-820 and NA75-43-820A. It is confirmed for applicable Mazda MX-5 NA and NB models using the standard front brake arrangement. On NB-FL vehicles, check whether the car has the factory big-brake package before ordering.

Other items to consider: Inspect the corresponding front-right hose, both rear flexible brake hoses, rigid brake pipes, banjo bolt and sealing washers, front caliper, bleed nipple and brake-fluid condition. Hoses of the same age may show similar deterioration.

Useful tools / consumables: Vehicle lift or trolley jack and axle stands, flare-nut spanner, socket and spanner set, drain container, fresh brake fluid of the correct specification, brake cleaner, replacement sealing washers where required and suitable brake-bleeding equipment.

Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Moderate. Replacing a brake hose opens the hydraulic braking system and requires correct installation, bleeding and leak checking before the vehicle is returned to service.

Why RIDEX? RIDEX brake hoses provide a cost-effective aftermarket replacement manufactured to application-specific connection, length and mounting requirements. Correctly functioning flexible hoses are essential for transmitting hydraulic pressure safely while allowing normal steering and suspension movement.

What’s in the box: One RIDEX front-left flexible brake hose. Brake fluid, banjo bolt, sealing washers, matching right-hand hose and installation tools are not included unless physically supplied with the component.

Installation notes: Support the vehicle securely and remove the relevant front wheel. Clean the hose and rigid-pipe unions before dismantling them. Release the rigid brake-pipe connection using a suitable flare-nut spanner, then disconnect the hose from the caliper and its mounting points. Compare the replacement hose with the original before installation. Route it without twists and ensure it cannot contact the wheel, tyre, suspension or bodywork through the full steering and suspension travel. Use new sealing washers where required at the banjo connection and tighten all fittings to the applicable specifications. Refill and bleed the hydraulic circuit thoroughly, confirm a firm brake pedal and inspect every disturbed connection for leakage before driving.
