RIDEX 654W1066 Front Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly – LH or RH
Replacement RIDEX front wheel-bearing and hub assembly for Mazda MX-5 Mk3/NC, Mk3.5/NC-FL and Mk3.75/NC-FL2 1.8 and 2.0-litre models listed in the compatibility table.
The wheel-bearing and hub assembly supports the front road wheel and allows it to rotate smoothly while maintaining accurate alignment relative to the steering knuckle and suspension. The hub also provides the mounting points for the brake disc and road wheel.
This is a complete bolt-on assembly incorporating the wheel hub, bearing and wheel studs. The vehicle’s ABS wheel-speed sensor locates into the rear of the hub housing. The same component is suitable for either the left- or right-hand side of the front axle.
One assembly is required per side and one assembly is supplied. Two assemblies are required when replacing both front sides.
Common symptoms of wear include humming, rumbling or droning that increases with road speed, vibration through the steering wheel, excessive wheel movement, uneven tyre wear, ABS-related faults or roughness when the wheel is rotated.

Fitment advice: This assembly corresponds with Mazda references NE51-33-04X and NE51-33-04XA and is intended for the Mazda MX-5 Mk3/NC applications shown in the compatibility table. It fits either front side. Hub specification can vary where a replacement steering knuckle, aftermarket hub or modified ABS arrangement has previously been installed. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the Mazda reference and component design on the hub being replaced is recommended.
Other items to consider: When changing this part, you may also want to consider purchasing the opposite-side front hub, hub-retaining bolts, brake discs and pads, wheel nuts, ABS wheel-speed sensor components and any required replacement self-locking suspension or steering fixings.
Useful tools / consumables: Vehicle lift or trolley jack and axle stands, wheel-removal tools, socket and breaker-bar set, torque wrench, brake-caliper tools, penetrating fluid, wire brush, brake cleaner and suitable anti-corrosion compound.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Moderate to Advanced. Replacement requires removal of the front brake disc and caliper assembly, disconnection or removal of the ABS sensor and release of the hub from the front upright. Corroded fixings or a seized hub can increase the difficulty.
Why RIDEX? RIDEX parts are aftermarket replacement components designed to provide a cost-effective repair option for everyday vehicle maintenance and refurbishment. They are intended to replace the original component on the applications listed, helping restore function while keeping repair costs sensible.
What’s in the box: One RIDEX front wheel-bearing and hub assembly with wheel studs. The separate ABS wheel-speed sensor and mounting bolts are not included unless physically present in the supplied package.
Installation notes: Support the vehicle securely and remove the front road wheel. Remove the brake caliper and support it without allowing it to hang from the flexible brake hose. Remove the brake disc and carefully withdraw the ABS wheel-speed sensor from the rear of the hub housing. Release the original hub-retaining fixings and remove the old assembly from the upright. Clean the hub mounting face and inspect the upright, sensor and surrounding suspension components for corrosion or damage. Install the replacement assembly squarely and tighten all hub, brake and wheel fixings to the applicable vehicle specifications. Reinstall the ABS sensor without damaging its tip or wiring, confirm that the wheel rotates smoothly and check for correct ABS operation after installation.
