RIDEX 3926A0019 Mass Air Flow Sensor – MX-5 Mk3 NC 1.8/2.0
Replacement RIDEX mass air flow (MAF) sensor for Mazda MX-5 Mk3/NC, Mk3.5/NC-FL and Mk3.75/NC-FL2 1.8 and 2.0-litre petrol models.
The mass air flow sensor is fitted in the clean-air side of the intake system after the air filter. It measures the quantity of air entering the engine and supplies this information to the ECU, allowing the engine-management system to calculate the appropriate fuel delivery and operating strategy.
Sensor-only design: RIDEX 3926A0019 is supplied without the main air-intake housing or suction pipe. It is the replaceable sensor insert with a five-pin electrical connection.
Possible symptoms of a contaminated or failing MAF sensor include hesitation, unstable idle, reduced performance, poor throttle response, increased fuel consumption, difficult starting, incorrect fuel-trim values, an illuminated engine-management light or MAF-related diagnostic trouble codes.

Fitment advice: MazSpec confirms this sensor for Mazda MX-5 Mk3/NC 1.8 and 2.0-litre petrol models from March 2005 through December 2014. Before installation, compare the original five-pin sensor and OE reference, particularly on vehicles fitted with aftermarket induction systems or modified engine-management hardware.
Diagnostic advice: A MAF-related fault code does not automatically prove that the sensor itself has failed. Inspect the air filter, intake ducting, electrical connector and wiring and check for unmetered air leaks. Contamination from unsuitable air-filter oil or intake debris can also affect sensor readings.
Other items to consider: Inspect or replace the engine air filter where required and check the intake hose, clamps and resonator connections for splits or leaks. Any air entering the engine after the MAF sensor can produce incorrect fuel-trim readings and drivability problems.
Useful tools / consumables: Suitable screwdriver or security-bit set according to the original fasteners, electrical contact cleaner and diagnostic equipment capable of reading live MAF and fuel-trim data. Only use a cleaner specifically approved for mass air flow sensors on the sensing element.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Easy. Replacement is generally straightforward, but the sensing element is delicate and must not be touched or contaminated.
Why RIDEX? RIDEX engine-management sensors provide a cost-effective aftermarket replacement manufactured to application-specific electrical and physical specifications. A correctly functioning MAF sensor helps the ECU maintain accurate fuelling, drivability and emissions control.
What’s in the box: One RIDEX mass air flow sensor. Main intake housing, suction pipe, air filter, electrical connector and installation tools are not included.
Installation notes: Switch off the ignition before disconnecting the sensor. Release the electrical connector carefully without pulling on the wiring, then remove the sensor from the intake housing using the appropriate tool. Do not touch the sensing element. Check the intake housing and sealing area for dirt or damage before installing the replacement. Fit the sensor in the correct orientation, tighten its fasteners evenly and reconnect the electrical plug securely. After installation, start the engine and check for intake leaks or stored fault codes. Where diagnostic equipment is available, confirm that MAF readings and fuel trims respond plausibly through the engine-speed range.
