Replacement pair of RIDEX solid rear brake discs for Mazda MX-5 Mk2/NB and Mk2.5/NB-FL 1.8 Sport models fitted with the factory large brake package.

The rear brake discs rotate with the wheel hubs and provide the friction surfaces against which the rear brake pads clamp. This converts the vehicle’s movement into heat and slows the vehicle.

These solid cast-iron discs measure approximately 275.6 mm in diameter and 10 mm thick. They are intended for the larger rear braking arrangement used on applicable 1.8 Sport models.

Fitment advice: These discs correspond with the Mazda N06Y-26-251 and N0YY-26-251 reference families. They are intended for applicable MX-5 Mk2/NB and Mk2.5/NB-FL 1.8 Sport models fitted with the large brake package. Before ordering, confirm that the existing rear discs measure approximately 276 mm in diameter. Standard-brake models use smaller rear discs and require a different component.

Installation notes: Support the vehicle securely and remove both rear wheels. Release the parking brake before dismantling the rear braking system. Remove the brake calipers and support them without allowing their weight to hang from the flexible hoses. Remove the caliper carriers and existing discs. Clean the wheel-hub faces thoroughly and remove corrosion or debris that could cause disc run-out. Degrease the braking surfaces of the new discs using suitable brake cleaner. Install each disc squarely against its hub and refit the caliper carriers and calipers using the applicable tightening specifications. Retract the rear caliper pistons using the correct wind-back procedure and fit new brake pads where appropriate. Refit the wheels, tighten the wheel nuts to the correct torque and operate the brake pedal until firm before moving the vehicle. Restore and test the parking brake, then bed in the new discs and pads according to the brake-pad manufacturer’s instructions.
