RIDEX 273C1727 Front Left Upper Suspension Arm – MX-5 Mk1 NA
Replacement RIDEX front upper suspension arm / wishbone for the left-hand side of Mazda MX-5 Mk1/NA 1.6 and 1.8 models.
Installation position: Front axle, left upper. On a UK right-hand-drive MX-5 this is the front nearside / passenger side. The arm is suitable for cars with or without ABS and includes the required ABS-related mounting brackets.
The upper suspension arm locates the wheel hub assembly relative to the chassis and helps control wheel geometry as the suspension moves. Wear in the arm bushes or ball-joint assembly can lead to unwanted movement, knocking, poor steering precision and abnormal tyre wear.

MX-5 fitment: MazSpec confirms this arm across the complete standard Mazda MX-5 Mk1/NA 1.6 and 1.8 range from 1990 through 1998, including early 115 PS 1.6, later 90 PS 1.6 and 130 PS 1.8 applications.
Common replacement reasons: Worn suspension bushes, ball-joint play, knocking over uneven roads, vague steering response, uneven tyre wear, corrosion, accident damage or excessive movement identified during suspension inspection.
Other items to consider: Inspect the opposite upper arm, lower suspension arms and ball joints, anti-roll-bar links, shock absorbers, steering track-rod ends and wheel bearings while the suspension is dismantled.
Useful tools / consumables: Trolley jack and axle stands or vehicle lift, socket and spanner set, torque wrench, penetrating fluid, ball-joint separator where required and suitable equipment for supporting the hub assembly.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Moderate to Advanced. Suspension geometry and safety-critical fasteners are involved, and seized bolts can substantially increase the difficulty on older vehicles.
Why RIDEX? RIDEX suspension components provide a cost-effective aftermarket replacement manufactured to application-specific dimensions. This complete upper control arm restores the principal arm assembly rather than requiring individual worn components to be reused.
What’s in the box: One RIDEX 273C1727 front-left upper suspension arm, including ball-joint nut and cotter pin.
Installation notes: Raise and support the vehicle securely before dismantling the front suspension. Support the hub assembly, remove the original arm and inspect the chassis mounting points and adjoining suspension components. Fit the replacement in the correct left-hand upper position, ensuring any ABS wiring or brackets are routed correctly. Tighten all suspension fasteners to Mazda specifications and at the suspension position specified by the workshop procedure. A wheel-alignment check is recommended after replacement.
