RIDEX 654W1208 Front Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly – LH or RH

Replacement RIDEX front wheel-bearing and hub assembly for Mazda RX-8 SE/FE models listed in the compatibility table.

The wheel-bearing and hub assembly supports the front road wheel and allows it to rotate smoothly while maintaining accurate positioning relative to the steering knuckle and suspension. The hub provides the mounting face for the brake disc and road wheel, while the integrated bearing carries vehicle weight and withstands braking and cornering loads.

This is a complete hub assembly with the wheel bearing integrated into the wheel hub. It is installed at the front steering-knuckle position and is suitable for either the left- or right-hand side. One assembly is required per side and one assembly is supplied.

Common symptoms of wear include humming, rumbling or droning that increases with road speed, vibration through the steering, excessive wheel movement, uneven tyre wear, roughness when the wheel is rotated or difficulty maintaining accurate wheel alignment.

Fitment advice: This hub assembly corresponds with Mazda references F151-33-04X and F151-33-04Y and is intended for the confirmed Mazda RX-8 applications shown in the compatibility table. Hub and steering-knuckle specification can vary where replacement or modified components have previously been installed. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the Mazda reference, dimensions and component design on the hub being replaced is recommended.

Other items to consider: When changing this part, you may also want to consider purchasing the opposite-side front hub, hub-retaining bolts, brake-disc retaining fixings, wheel studs or nuts, front brake discs and pads, ABS wheel-speed sensor components and any required self-locking suspension or steering fixings.

Useful tools / consumables: Vehicle lift or trolley jack and axle stands, wheel-removal tools, socket and breaker-bar set, torque wrench, brake-caliper tools, hub puller or slide hammer where required, penetrating fluid, wire brush, brake cleaner and suitable anti-corrosion compound.

Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Advanced. Replacement requires removal of the front brake and hub components and may involve high-torque or corroded retaining fixings. Suitable extraction equipment may be required where the original hub is seized into the steering knuckle.

Why RIDEX? RIDEX parts are aftermarket replacement components designed to provide a cost-effective repair option for everyday vehicle maintenance and refurbishment. They are intended to replace the original component on the applications listed, helping restore function while keeping repair costs sensible.

What’s in the box: One RIDEX front wheel-bearing and hub assembly with the wheel bearing integrated into the hub. Separate mounting bolts, wheel studs, nuts or ABS components are not included unless physically present in the supplied package.

Installation notes: Support the vehicle securely and remove the front road wheel, brake caliper and brake disc as required. Support the caliper without allowing it to hang from the flexible brake hose. Disconnect or reposition the ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring where necessary and remove the hub-retaining components. Use suitable extraction equipment if the original assembly is seized, avoiding damage to the steering knuckle, sensor or surrounding suspension components. Clean and inspect the mounting surface before installing the replacement hub. Fit the assembly squarely and tighten all hub, brake and wheel fixings to the applicable vehicle specifications. Confirm that the wheel rotates smoothly, check for bearing play and verify correct ABS operation after installation. A wheel-alignment check should be considered where suspension or steering components have been disturbed.
