Fits Mazda MX-5 Mk1 / NA 1.8 models from 1994-1998 and MX-5 Mk2 / Mk2.5 NB 1.6 & 1.8 non-Sport models from 1998-2005 using the standard 252mm solid rear brake discs with Akebono rear calipers. Not suitable for NB Sport / larger brake-package applications using the larger rear disc setup.

Yellowstuff Brake Pads

EBC Yellowstuff is a high-friction performance brake pad developed primarily for fast-road use. It provides strong braking performance from cold together with increased resistance to repeated heavy braking, making it particularly well suited to enthusiast-driven MX-5s where greater braking capability is required than from a conventional everyday replacement pad.

The DP41003R pads use EBC's Brake-In™ surface coating to assist initial bedding and feature a fully shimmed, slotted and chamfered construction. Yellowstuff is ECE R90 approved for road use.

EBC currently positions Yellowstuff primarily as a fast-street / fast-road compound rather than its preferred dedicated track pad. For MX-5s intended for sustained circuit use, EBC recommends moving to Bluestuff or one of its dedicated motorsport compounds.

EBC Premium OE Replacement Brake Discs

The matching D639 discs are EBC Premium plain brake discs designed as direct replacements for the original rear discs used with the applicable MX-5 braking system. They retain the standard 252mm diameter, solid construction and 4 x 100mm mounting arrangement.

EBC Premium replacement rotors use G3000 specification cast iron and current production is progressively supplied with EBC's Gen 3 Silver Grey corrosion-resistant finish. The plain braking surface makes this kit a useful option for customers wanting the increased friction characteristics of Yellowstuff pads without moving to a grooved, slotted or dimpled rear disc.

Fitment Advice:

This kit is specifically for the 252mm solid rear disc and Akebono rear caliper arrangement used on the applications listed.

On MX-5 Mk2 / Mk2.5 NB models, this kit is intended for the standard / non-Sport brake package. Sport and other larger-brake applications use a different rear disc and require a different EBC kit.

For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number or component style on the part being replaced is recommended.

Rear brake discs should be installed onto thoroughly cleaned and corrosion-free hub faces. Care should be taken when servicing the rear calipers because the mechanical handbrake mechanism is incorporated into the rear caliper assembly. All fasteners should be tightened to the appropriate Mazda torque specifications.

New pads and discs should be progressively bedded in according to EBC's current bedding procedure before sustained heavy braking.
