Rear Brembo Sport HP2 brake pad set for selected Mazda MX-5 Mk1 / NA and MX-5 Mk2 / NB models using the Akebono rear brake system and this 102 x 43 mm pad profile.
Brembo 07.B315.07 is a complete rear axle set of Sport HP2 performance brake pads. The HP2 range forms part of Brembo's UPGRADE Line and provides a direct-fit sport-oriented friction material for compatible original brake calipers.
Brembo describes its HP2 pads as providing strong cold performance, good initial bite, resistance to fade and stable friction characteristics across varying operating conditions. They are designed to be interchangeable with the corresponding original-equipment pad dimensions and are ECE R90 approved.

Important Fitment Note
This pad must not be confused with Brembo 07.B315.08, which uses a different 102.1 x 39.6 x 12 mm pad profile and is associated with the alternative larger-brake MX-5 NB application. Brembo's current catalogue also identifies a later rear pad change during MX-5 NB production, so the existing pad profile and brake specification should be checked carefully on later cars. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number, dimensions and brake specification of the component being replaced is recommended.
Typical Reasons for Replacement
Brake pads are normally replaced when the friction material has worn, when uneven wear, contamination or heat damage is present, when renewing worn rear discs, or when changing from a conventional road pad to a sport-oriented friction material for more enthusiastic road driving.
Fitment Advice
Rear brake pads should be replaced as a complete axle set. Inspect both rear brake discs, caliper sliders, pad contact points and handbrake mechanism before installation. The MX-5 rear caliper and mechanical handbrake adjustment should be set correctly in accordance with the Mazda workshop procedure after fitting.
Other Items to Consider
- Rear brake discs
- Rear brake pad fitting hardware where worn or corroded
- Brake fluid
- Rear caliper service components where required
Useful Tools / Consumables
- Brake cleaner
- Suitable brake assembly lubricant for specified contact points
- Torque wrench
- Suitable rear caliper adjustment tools
Difficulty Guide
Moderate – brake pad replacement is a conventional service operation, but correct rear caliper adjustment, handbrake setting and tightening procedures are important. Braking-system work should only be undertaken by somebody competent to carry it out safely.
Why Brembo?
Brembo Sport HP2 pads form part of the company's UPGRADE Line and are intended for drivers looking for a sport-oriented direct-fit pad for road use. HP2 pads retain compatibility with the corresponding original brake calipers while using a performance-focused friction material, and the range is ECE R90 approved.
What's in the Box?
- 4 x Brembo Sport HP2 rear brake pads
Installation Notes
Ensure both rear calipers move freely and the discs remain within service limits before fitting. After installation, correctly adjust the rear calipers and parking brake and follow Brembo's recommended bedding-in procedure. Avoid unnecessary heavy braking during the initial bedding period.
