The MZ16 is Cobra Sport's standard-exit, non-resonated cat-back system for the fourth-generation Mazda MX-5. It fits from the second catalytic-converter section rearwards and replaces the original centre and rear exhaust sections, retaining the conventional exhaust outlet position at the rear of the vehicle.
Manufactured in the UK from certified grade 304 stainless steel with TIG-welded construction, the system uses 2.5" / 63.5 mm pipework. The non-resonated MZ16 configuration omits the centre silencer used by the resonated version, producing a louder and more pronounced exhaust character while retaining the complete cat-back layout.

Exhaust configuration: This is the non-resonated MZ16 version. It does not contain the centre silencer used in Cobra Sport's resonated MZ15 system.
Sound: The non-resonated configuration is Cobra Sport's louder option for this cat-back design, omitting the centre silencer for a more pronounced and sportier exhaust note.
Fitment advice: Designed for Mazda MX-5 Mk4 / ND 1.5 and 2.0 models from 2015 onwards using the standard rear exhaust exit. As a complete cat-back, the system replaces both the centre and rear sections rather than only the rear silencer. Allow sufficient time during installation to loosely assemble and align the complete system before fully tightening the joints so that the tailpipe sits correctly within the bumper aperture.
Other items to consider: Inspect the existing exhaust mounting rubbers and adjoining flange area during installation and replace worn components where necessary. Exhaust joint paste or suitable high-temperature assembly compound can be useful where appropriate.
Useful tools / consumables: Vehicle lift or securely rated axle stands, socket and spanner set, penetrating fluid, exhaust-hanger removal tool or suitable pliers, torque wrench and suitable exhaust assembly compound where required.
Difficulty guide: Intermediate. This is a multi-section cat-back system requiring safe vehicle lifting, removal of the original centre and rear exhaust sections and careful alignment of the replacement pipework and tailpipe. Professional fitting is recommended if suitable lifting equipment is not available.

Installation / setup notes: The system fits from the second catalytic-converter section rearwards. Assemble the exhaust with the joints initially loose, position the system without stressing the hangers, centre the selected tailpipe in the original rear bumper opening and only then tighten the connections securely.
