Competition Clutch 10045-2100 Stage 2 2100 Series Clutch Kit
Performance replacement Competition Clutch kit for Mazda MX-5 MK1 / NA 1.8L and MX-5 MK2 / NB 1.8L models from 1994–2005 listed in the compatibility table.
The Competition Clutch Stage 2 2100 Series is designed for drivers who want increased clutch holding capacity while retaining progressive engagement suitable for regular road use. It is particularly well suited to fast-road MX-5s, moderately modified engines and cars that see occasional track use.
The clutch assembly is fitted between the engine and manual gearbox and transfers engine torque through to the transmission. One clutch kit is required per vehicle.
Replacement may be required due to clutch slip, worn friction material, poor engagement or where increased engine output exceeds the capability of the standard clutch. The Stage 2 setup provides increased holding capability without the more abrupt engagement associated with higher-stage ceramic puck clutches.

Fitment advice: Part number 10045-2100 is designed around the Mazda MX-5 / Miata 1.8L clutch and flywheel arrangement used across the applicable NA and NB models. Some specialists also use this kit as an upgrade on 1.6L cars when converted to a compatible 1.8L flywheel, but this is not a direct standard 1.6L replacement application. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number or component style on the part being replaced is recommended.
Other items to consider: When replacing the clutch, consider inspecting or replacing the flywheel at the same time. It is also worth checking the clutch release bearing, pilot bearing or bush, clutch hydraulics, rear crankshaft oil seal and gearbox input area while the transmission is removed.
Useful tools / consumables: Clutch alignment tool, transmission jack, torque wrench, brake/clutch cleaner and appropriate high-temperature grease for specified clutch release mechanism contact points.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Advanced. Installation requires removal of the gearbox, correct clutch alignment and accurate tightening of the pressure plate and associated components.
Why Competition Clutch? Competition Clutch is a trusted choice for performance-focused MX-5 owners who want stronger, more consistent clutch performance without sacrificing everyday usability. With options ranging from uprated road clutches through to more aggressive track-focused setups, Competition Clutch products are designed to deliver increased torque capacity, positive engagement and dependable performance.
What’s in the box: Competition Clutch performance pressure plate, high-torque sprung full-face clutch disc with steel-backed Brass Plus friction material, throwout bearing, pilot bearing / bushing and clutch alignment tool. Flywheel is not included.
Installation notes: Inspect the flywheel friction surface before installing the new clutch and replace or professionally prepare it where required. Correctly centre the clutch disc before refitting the gearbox and follow the appropriate tightening sequence and torque specifications. Competition Clutch recommends a bedding-in period before subjecting the clutch to full-load performance use.
