Genuine Mazda 9945-41-270 Differential Carrier to Rear Subframe Mounting Bolt

Replacement Genuine Mazda differential carrier mounting bolt for Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Mk3.5 and Mk3.75 NC models.

This bolt passes through one of the main differential carrier mounting bushes and threads into a captive nut in the rear suspension subframe.

Together with the corresponding bolt on the opposite side, it clamps the differential mounting assembly securely to the subframe. The differential bushes help control drivetrain movement and isolate vibration while the mounting bolts retain the assembly under acceleration, deceleration and changing driveline loads.

Two bolts are fitted per vehicle, one through each main differential mounting bush. This listing supplies one Genuine Mazda bolt, so select a quantity of two when replacing both sides.

Replacement should be considered where the original bolt is heavily corroded, seized, bent, stretched, cross-threaded, rounded or damaged during differential removal.

Fitment advice: This bolt is intended for the principal differential carrier-to-subframe mounting position. Confirm that the vehicle retains the original differential carrier, mounting bushes and rear subframe arrangement, particularly where a replacement differential or modified mounting system has been installed.

Other items to consider: Inspect the second differential carrier bolt, both differential mounting bushes, the captive subframe threads, upper differential mounting studs, mounting nuts and the surrounding rear subframe structure. Replace any fastener with damaged, stretched or heavily corroded threads.

Useful tools / consumables: Suitable socket and breaker bar, penetrating fluid, calibrated torque wrench, wire brush, thread-cleaning tools and a transmission or differential support jack.

Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Advanced. The differential must be supported securely before either main carrier bolt is loosened. Corrosion may cause the bolt to seize within the bush sleeve or captive subframe thread, potentially requiring heat, cutting or specialist extraction equipment.

Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda differential mounting bolts are manufactured to match the original diameter, thread, length, head dimensions and strength specification required by the differential carrier and rear subframe. Correct hardware helps maintain the intended clamping force and compatibility with the original mounting bushes and captive threads.

What’s in the box: One Genuine Mazda differential carrier-to-rear-subframe mounting bolt, part number 9945-41-270.

Installation notes: Support the differential securely before removing the mounting bolt. Clean and inspect the captive subframe thread, differential bush sleeve and surrounding mounting faces. Align the differential carrier correctly, insert the replacement bolt in the original direction and start it by hand to prevent cross-threading. Fit both carrier bolts loosely before final tightening, then tighten them progressively to the applicable Mazda workshop specification.
