DENSO DOX-0560 is a Direct Fit heated broadband oxygen / lambda sensor for later Mazda MX-5 NC applications. It is supplied with the correct vehicle-specific electrical connector and wiring arrangement, allowing direct replacement without adapting or soldering a universal sensor into the original wiring loom.

This sensor is positioned before the catalytic converter and operates as the regulating sensor within the engine-management system. It monitors the oxygen content of the exhaust gases so the ECU can accurately control the engine's air-fuel mixture.

Important Fitment Note

DOX-0560 is the later upstream / pre-catalyst sensor, with application data specifying vehicles from September 2008 production. Earlier MX-5 Mk3 / NC1 vehicles use a different upstream sensor specification, including DENSO DOX-0518 on the corresponding earlier applications.

DOX-0560 must also not be confused with the downstream / post-catalyst diagnostic sensor. The upstream and downstream sensors perform different functions and are not interchangeable.

Typical Reasons for Replacement

An oxygen / air-fuel ratio sensor may require replacement because of internal sensor deterioration, heater-circuit failure, contamination, damaged wiring or connector problems. A failed sensor can contribute to an engine-management warning light, incorrect mixture control, poor running or increased fuel consumption, although these symptoms can have other causes and should be correctly diagnosed before replacing components.

Fitment Advice

Confirm that the sensor being replaced is the upstream / pre-catalyst sensor before removal. Where necessary, compare the connector, cable arrangement and original Mazda part number with the existing component.

For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number or component style on the part being replaced is recommended.

Installation Notes

Allow the exhaust system to cool before starting work. Disconnect the electrical connector before removing the existing sensor and avoid twisting or damaging the wiring during installation.

The replacement sensor is supplied with a pre-treated thread. Take care not to contaminate the sensing element and tighten the sensor using the appropriate installation procedure.
