Replacement later-style Genuine Mazda engine oil dipstick for Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Mk3.5 and Mk3.75 NC models fitted with either the 1.8-litre L8 or 2.0-litre LF petrol engine.

The dipstick passes through the engine oil-level guide tube and extends into the sump. Its marked measuring section allows the engine oil level to be checked against the minimum and maximum limits specified by Mazda.

Maintaining the correct oil level is essential for reliable engine lubrication. An oil level below the minimum mark can lead to oil-pressure loss and internal engine damage, while significant overfilling can cause aeration, increased crankcase pressure, oil leakage and catalytic-converter contamination.

LFE2-10-450D is the later revised dipstick design introduced to make the oil level easier to read than with the original early NC dipsticks. It is suitable as a direct replacement across the complete 1.8- and 2.0-litre MX-5 NC range.

Oil-consumption advice: A low reading should not automatically be attributed to the dipstick. Check for external leaks, oil burning, incorrect filling quantity or excessive engine oil consumption where repeated topping-up is required.

Replacement advice: Inspect the dipstick guide tube for damage, looseness or obstruction before installing the replacement. Ensure the new dipstick slides freely and seats fully without being forced.
