Genuine Mazda Engine Lifting Eye & Coolant Water Pipe Mounting Bolt

Replacement Genuine Mazda engine lifting-eye and coolant-pipe mounting bolt for Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Mk3.5 and Mk3.75 NC models fitted with the 1.8- or 2.0-litre MZR petrol engine.

This bolt is installed in the cylinder-head area and secures the engine lifting-eye bracket. The lifting eye provides a suitable attachment point when supporting, removing or installing the engine using appropriate lifting equipment.

On the MX-5 NC, the same fastener is also associated with the coolant water pipe running from the expansion-tank side towards the rear of the engine. Correctly fitted hardware keeps the lifting bracket and pipe mounting securely located.

Mazda catalogue diagrams show one bolt in the standard engine installation. An additional bolt may be needed when fitting a second lifting eye temporarily to the opposite side of the engine for removal or installation.

Quantity advice: Mazda diagrams show one bolt in the standard installed engine assembly. This listing supplies one bolt. Additional hardware may be required when temporarily fitting a second engine lifting bracket.

Fitment advice: This bolt is used in the cylinder-head area for the lifting-eye and associated coolant-pipe mounting. It should not be confused with cylinder-head bolts, cam-cover bolts or other visually similar engine fasteners.

Lifting advice: Never lift or support the engine from an improvised attachment point. Confirm that the lifting eye, bolt and cylinder-head mounting threads are undamaged before attaching lifting equipment.

Thread inspection: Inspect and clean the threaded hole before installation. A replacement bolt will not repair stripped or damaged cylinder-head threads.

Coolant-pipe inspection: Check the associated pipe, mounting bracket and surrounding hoses for corrosion, leakage, distortion or damaged mounting points while access is available.

Installation advice: Position the lifting eye and coolant-pipe bracket correctly before inserting the bolt. Start the bolt by hand to prevent cross-threading and tighten it using the Mazda procedure applicable to the installation.

Other items to inspect: Check the engine lifting bracket, rear lifting-eye location, coolant water pipe, expansion-tank hose, cylinder-head threads and nearby wiring or hose clips.

Useful tools / consumables: Correct-size socket, extension bar, calibrated torque wrench, thread-cleaning tools, penetrating fluid where required and suitable engine-lifting equipment when using the lifting eye.

Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Easy for direct bolt replacement with clear access. Engine removal or lifting-eye installation requires suitable lifting equipment and competent support of the engine.

Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda engine fasteners match the original thread, length, head design and mounting arrangement. Correct hardware is particularly important where the fastener supports an engine lifting bracket and associated cooling-system component.

What’s in the box: One Genuine Mazda engine lifting-eye and coolant water-pipe mounting bolt, part number 9XF00-0337L.

Installation notes: Allow the engine to cool before working near the coolant pipe. Remove the original bolt while supporting the lifting eye or pipe bracket as required. Clean and inspect the mounting threads, position the components correctly and start the replacement bolt by hand. Tighten using the applicable Mazda workshop procedure. When using the lifting eye, confirm that the bracket and fastener are fully secure before applying any lifting load.
