Genuine Mazda Quarterlight Frame / Door Window Glass Run Channel – Left Hand
Replacement Genuine Mazda left-hand quarterlight-frame and window-glass run channel for all Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Mk3.5 and Mk3.75 NC models, including soft-top and Power Retractable Hard Top / Roadster Coupe variants.
This moulded rubber channel fits around the fixed quarterlight frame at the front of the left-hand door. It provides the front guide and sealing surface for the moving door glass as the window is raised and lowered.
The channel helps guide the glass in the correct path, reduces unwanted movement and provides a weather seal around the front edge of the door window. Age, UV exposure and repeated window operation can cause the original rubber to harden, split, deform or pull away from the frame.
One left-hand channel is fitted per vehicle, and this listing supplies one Genuine Mazda component. The corresponding right-hand channel is supplied separately under its own Mazda reference.
Side identification: Left hand refers to the vehicle’s left side when seated in the vehicle facing forwards. On a UK right-hand-drive MX-5, this is the nearside or passenger side.

Typical reasons for replacement:

- Door glass rattling or moving excessively
- Window glass binding when raised or lowered

- Water entering around the quarterlight or door glass

- Original channel damaged during door-glass removal
- Quarterlight frame or door being restored
Fitment advice: NE51-59-605D is the left-hand channel fitted around the front quarterlight frame. It should not be confused with the upper door-opening weatherstrip or the separate outer and inner waist seals fitted along the top of the door.
Replacement advice: Inspect the door glass, window regulator, guide rails and quarterlight frame before fitting the new channel. A replacement rubber channel will not correct a bent frame, loose regulator or incorrectly aligned door glass.
Glass-alignment advice: Check that the door glass enters the replacement channel smoothly and maintains even contact throughout its full travel. Incorrect glass adjustment can cause excessive friction, poor sealing or premature damage to the new rubber.
Seal inspection: Check the adjacent door weatherstrips, roof seals and waist seals for deterioration. Water or wind noise may originate from more than one sealing component.
Cleaning advice: Clean the quarterlight frame and channel mounting surfaces before installation. Remove dirt, adhesive residue and corrosion without damaging the painted or finished surfaces.
Lubrication advice: Use only a rubber-compatible installation aid or lubricant where required. Petroleum-based products can damage automotive rubber and should not be used unless specifically approved.
Other items to inspect: Check the fixed quarterlight glass, window regulator, door-glass guides, inner and outer waist seals, main door weatherstrip and roof-to-window seals while the door is dismantled.
Useful tools / consumables: Plastic trim tools, screwdrivers, small socket set, masking tape, rubber-compatible lubricant, suitable cleaner and replacement door-trim clips where required.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Moderate. Installation normally requires removal of the door trim and partial dismantling or adjustment of the door glass and quarterlight-frame assembly.
Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda glass-run channels match the original quarterlight-frame profile, glass-guiding surfaces, mounting shape and sealing geometry. Correct dimensions help the door glass move smoothly while maintaining the intended weather and wind-noise seal.
What’s in the box: One Genuine Mazda left-hand quarterlight-frame / door-window glass run channel, part number NE51-59-605D.
Installation notes: Lower the door glass and remove the interior door trim and associated components as required. Record the original glass and quarterlight-frame adjustment before dismantling. Remove the old channel carefully, clean the frame and inspect all mounting surfaces. Install the replacement channel without stretching or twisting the rubber, then refit and adjust the glass so that it moves freely through the complete travel. Confirm even sealing against the roof and surrounding weatherstrips before refitting the door trim.
