Genuine Mazda Windscreen Cowl Leak Repair Kit – Complete Pair
Complete Genuine Mazda windscreen cowl leak-repair kit for all Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Mk3.5 and Mk3.75 NC models produced from 2005 to 2015.
The kit renews both windscreen cowl mounting points located beneath the plastic cowl grille at the base of the windscreen. Each mounting position uses a screw grommet with an integral sealing gasket and a separate visible plastic screw cover.
The original grommet seals can flatten, split or deteriorate with age. Once the seal breaks down, rainwater may pass through the cowl mounting aperture and enter the driver or passenger footwell.
The plastic screw covers must be removed to access the grommets and commonly become brittle, break or lose their retaining tabs during removal. This complete kit therefore includes replacement grommets and covers for both sides of the vehicle.
Two grommets and two covers are fitted per vehicle. This listing supplies one complete four-component kit, sufficient to repair both the left- and right-hand cowl mounting points.

Fitment advice: The kit fits both windscreen cowl mounting points used throughout the Mazda MX-5 NC range. The same components are used on soft-top and Power Retractable Hard Top models.
Leak-diagnosis advice: Failed cowl grommet seals are a common cause of NC footwell water ingress. Where moisture remains after replacement, also inspect the cowl drainage channels, windscreen bonding, door seals, roof drains and other surrounding body seals.
Replacement advice: Replace both sides together because the original seals are the same age and have experienced similar weather exposure. Renewing both screw covers also prevents loose or damaged trim from being refitted.
Other items to consider: Inspect the cowl retaining screws, plastic cowl grille, windscreen-wiper spindle seals and surrounding drainage channels. Clear away leaves, dirt and debris before refitting the cowl.
Useful tools / consumables: Plastic trim-removal tool, suitable screwdriver, cleaning cloths and a mild body-safe cleaner for the mounting surfaces.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Easy. The repair requires removal of the two visible screw covers and retaining screws before lifting the relevant sections of the cowl grille.
Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda cowl grommets match the original body apertures, screw threads and sealing-flange profile, while the covers match the original retaining tabs, surface texture and cowl openings.
What’s in the box: Two Genuine Mazda cowl screw grommets with integral seals and two Genuine Mazda screw covers, providing one complete vehicle repair kit.
Installation notes: Protect the surrounding paint and plastic trim before removing the original screw covers. Remove the cowl retaining screws and lift the cowl grille sufficiently to access each grommet. Extract the old grommets without damaging the body apertures, then clean and dry the surrounding surfaces thoroughly. Press each new grommet fully into its aperture so the sealing flange sits evenly against the body. Refit the cowl grille and screws without overtightening, then press the new covers into place until their retaining tabs engage. Test the area carefully for water ingress after installation.
