Genuine Mazda NE59-32-12X Steering Rack Boot / Bellows

Replacement Genuine Mazda steering rack boot / rack-and-pinion bellows for Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Mk3.5 and Mk3.75 / NC models with 1.8L and 2.0L petrol engines from 2005/2006 to 2015 listed in the compatibility table.

The flexible boot fits over the inner tie rod and steering rack opening. It protects the steering rack's internal sliding components and inner tie-rod joint from water, road dirt, grit and other contamination while allowing the tie rod to move as the steering is operated.

Maintaining an intact and securely retained rack boot is important for protecting the steering mechanism. A split or loose boot can allow moisture and abrasive debris into the rack assembly, potentially causing corrosion, inner tie-rod wear, damaged seals or premature steering-rack failure.

The same boot is used on the left-hand and right-hand sides of the steering rack. This listing supplies one Genuine Mazda steering rack boot for one side. Two are normally fitted per vehicle.

Replacement may be required where the original boot has split between its convolutions, become punctured, hardened, distorted or detached from its retaining clips. Oil, grease or water found inside the boot should prompt inspection of the steering rack and inner tie rod before reassembly.

Fitment advice: This boot fits either side of the original Mazda MX-5 NC steering rack. Compare the boot length, end diameters, convoluted profile and retaining arrangement with the removed component before installation. Inspect the inner tie rod and steering rack for corrosion, leakage or excessive free play while the boot is removed.

Other items to consider: When changing this part, you may also want to consider purchasing the rack-boot retaining spring or clips, inner tie rod, outer track rod end, track rod adjustment lock nut and any steering fasteners showing corrosion or thread damage.

Useful tools / consumables: Track rod end separator, spanners, socket set, side cutters or suitable clip-removal tool, rack-boot fitting tool where required, silicone-free rubber-safe lubricant, torque wrench and wheel-alignment equipment.

Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Moderate. The outer track rod end normally needs to be disconnected or removed, and its original adjustment position should be recorded. Care is required to avoid puncturing or twisting the replacement boot during installation.

Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda steering rack boots are manufactured to the intended length, end diameters, flexibility and convoluted profile. Using the correct OE boot helps provide secure fitment and suitable movement while protecting the original steering rack and inner tie rod from contamination.

What’s in the box: One Genuine Mazda steering rack boot / bellows, part number NE59-32-12X. Retaining clips, spring, inner tie rod, outer track rod end and additional steering hardware are not included unless specifically shown or stated separately.

Installation notes: Record the outer track rod end position before dismantling to provide an approximate starting point for alignment. Clean the rack housing and tie rod, inspect the components inside the original boot and remove any contamination. Seat both ends of the replacement boot fully in their grooves, install the correct retainers and check that the boot expands and compresses freely throughout the steering range without twisting. A professional wheel alignment should be carried out where the track rod adjustment has been disturbed.
