RIDEX 188C0915 Rear Suspension Coil Spring

Replacement RIDEX rear suspension coil spring for selected Mazda 3 BM and BN hatchback and saloon models listed in the compatibility table.

The coil spring supports the rear of the vehicle, maintains the correct ride height and absorbs suspension movement caused by uneven road surfaces, cornering and changes in vehicle load. It works together with the rear shock absorber to control wheel movement and help maintain stable tyre contact with the road.

This spring is fitted between the rear suspension arm or spring seat and the vehicle body or subframe, depending on the suspension layout. It is suitable for installation on either the left- or right-hand side. One spring is required per side and one spring is supplied.

Common reasons for replacement include a fractured coil, corrosion, sagging ride height, an uneven vehicle stance, knocking or creaking from the rear suspension, reduced stability or an MOT failure caused by a broken or insecure spring.

Fitment advice: This spring is intended for the confirmed Mazda 3 BM and BN applications shown in the compatibility table and corresponds with the Mazda reference numbers listed below. Suspension springs should normally be replaced as an axle pair to maintain balanced ride height, spring rate and handling. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number or component style on the part being replaced is recommended.

Other items to consider: When changing this part, you may also want to consider purchasing the opposite-side rear spring, upper and lower spring seats or isolators, rear shock absorbers, bump stops, dust covers, shock-absorber mounts and replacement suspension fixings.

Useful tools / consumables: Vehicle lift or trolley jack and axle stands, wheel-removal tools, socket and spanner set, torque wrench, suspension-arm support jack, spring compressor where required, penetrating fluid, wire brush and anti-corrosion treatment.

Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Moderate to Advanced. Removal normally requires supporting and lowering part of the rear suspension to release spring tension safely. A suitable spring compressor may be required depending on the suspension position and available movement.

Why RIDEX? RIDEX parts are aftermarket replacement components designed to provide a cost-effective repair option for everyday vehicle maintenance and refurbishment. They are intended to replace the original component on the applications listed, helping restore function while keeping repair costs sensible.

What’s in the box: One RIDEX rear suspension coil spring. Spring seats, rubber isolators and separate installation fixings are not included unless physically supplied in the package.

Installation notes: Support the vehicle securely and relieve the load from the relevant rear suspension components before removing any spring-retaining fixings. Ensure the spring is fully unloaded before removal. Note the orientation of the original spring and the position of its upper and lower ends within the spring seats. Inspect the seats, isolators and surrounding suspension components for damage or corrosion. Install the new spring in the correct orientation, ensuring that both ends sit fully against their locating stops. Tighten suspension fixings to the applicable vehicle specifications, with bonded-bush fixings tightened at normal ride height where required. Check the finished ride height and suspension alignment after installation.
