Genuine Mazda NA01-39-723 Power Plant Frame PPF Top Hat Spacer
Replacement Genuine Mazda Power Plant Frame mounting spacer for Mazda MX-5 Mk1 NA, Mk2 NB and Mk2.5 NB-FL models.
The Power Plant Frame, commonly abbreviated to PPF, is the rigid aluminium beam connecting the gearbox to the rear differential. It helps maintain the correct alignment and relationship between the engine, gearbox and differential while transmitting drivetrain loads through the vehicle.
This top-hat-shaped spacer fits around the stepped mounting bolt at the front of the differential. It provides the correct location and clamping arrangement between the PPF, differential housing and associated mounting hardware.
A missing, corroded, distorted or incorrectly installed spacer can prevent the PPF mounting from clamping correctly. This may contribute to movement between the drivetrain components, vibration, knocking noises or difficulty setting the correct PPF alignment.
There is one spacer fitted per vehicle. This listing supplies one Genuine Mazda spacer. The stepped mounting bolt, plain washers and other PPF hardware are not included.

Important: This is the top-hat spacer used with the stepped mounting bolt at the front of the differential. It should not be confused with the separate flat washers used elsewhere in the PPF mounting assembly.
Fitment advice: Confirm that the vehicle retains the original Mazda Power Plant Frame, differential housing and stepped mounting-bolt arrangement. Modified drivetrain installations or replacement differential assemblies may use different hardware.
Other items to consider: Inspect the associated stepped PPF bolt, plain washers, remaining PPF mounting bolts, differential mounting points and the aluminium frame around each bolt opening. Replace any fastener with damaged, stretched or heavily corroded threads.
Useful tools / consumables: Suitable socket and spanner set, breaker bar, penetrating fluid, calibrated torque wrench, drivetrain support jack, straightedge or measuring equipment and thread-cleaning tools.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Moderate to Advanced. The gearbox and differential relationship must be maintained while the PPF hardware is loosened. The drivetrain should be supported correctly, and the PPF alignment and gearbox height should be checked before final tightening.
Why Genuine Mazda? Genuine Mazda PPF hardware is manufactured to match the original stepped bolt, differential housing and Power Plant Frame mounting arrangement. Correct dimensions help maintain the intended clamping force, drivetrain alignment and structural connection between the gearbox and differential.
What’s in the box: One Genuine Mazda Power Plant Frame top-hat spacer, part number NA01-39-723.
Installation notes: Support the gearbox, differential and Power Plant Frame safely before loosening the mounting hardware. Clean and inspect the stepped bolt, spacer bore, washers and PPF mounting surfaces. Install the spacer in the same position and orientation as the original, then set the PPF and gearbox position in accordance with the applicable Mazda workshop procedure. Tighten the fasteners progressively to the specified torque and recheck drivetrain alignment before returning the vehicle to service.
