Replacement RIDEX front brake-pad set for Mazda MX-5 Mk1/NA 1.6-litre models fitted with the standard front brake system.

The brake pads fit inside the front brake calipers and clamp against the rotating brake discs when hydraulic pressure is applied. The resulting friction converts vehicle movement into heat and slows the vehicle.

Installation notes: Support the vehicle securely and remove both front wheels. Remove the brake calipers and support them without allowing their weight to hang from the flexible brake hoses. Inspect the discs, pistons, slider pins, dust boots and pad-contact surfaces. Clean the caliper carriers and apply suitable brake lubricant only to approved sliding and contact points, keeping lubricant away from the friction material and disc surfaces. Retract the caliper pistons using the correct tool, install the pads in the correct orientation and refit the calipers using the applicable tightening specifications. Operate the brake pedal until firm before moving the vehicle, check the brake-fluid level and bed in the pads according to the brake-pad manufacturer’s instructions.
