Replacement RIDEX front brake-pad set for Mazda MX-5 Mk2/NB and Mk2.5/NB-FL 1.8 Sport models fitted with the factory large-brake package.

The pads fit inside the front brake calipers and clamp against the brake discs when hydraulic pressure is applied. The resulting friction converts the vehicle’s movement into heat and slows the vehicle.

This is a complete front-axle set containing sufficient pads for both front calipers. The pads include an acoustic wear-warning feature and comply with the ECE-R90 replacement-brake-lining standard.

Important fitment restriction: These pads are intended for 1.8 Sport models fitted with the factory large-brake package and approximately 270 mm front brake discs. They do not fit standard-brake Mk1/NA or Mk2/NB vehicles.

Common reasons for replacement include reduced friction-material thickness, brake noise, uneven wear, deterioration or corrosion of the backing plates, contamination, reduced braking performance or replacement alongside worn front brake discs.

Fitment advice: These pads are intended for applicable Mazda MX-5 Mk2/NB and Mk2.5/NB-FL 1.8 Sport models using the factory large-brake package. Before ordering, compare the original pad profile, 110.1 × 57 × 13 mm dimensions, caliper type, brake-disc diameter and Mazda OE reference. Standard-brake vehicles use a different pad shape.

Other items to consider: Inspect the front brake discs, caliper pistons, slider pins, dust boots, pad fitting hardware, flexible brake hoses and brake-fluid condition. Heavily scored, corroded, distorted or undersized discs should be replaced as a front-axle pair.

Useful tools / consumables: Vehicle lift or trolley jack and axle stands, wheel-removal tools, socket and spanner set, torque wrench, caliper-piston retraction tool, brake cleaner, approved slider-pin lubricant and suitable protective gloves and eyewear.

Installation notes: Support the vehicle securely and remove both front wheels. Remove the brake calipers and support them without allowing their weight to hang from the flexible brake hoses. Inspect the discs, caliper pistons, slider pins, dust boots and pad-contact surfaces. Clean the caliper carriers and apply suitable brake lubricant only to approved sliding and contact points, keeping lubricant away from the friction material and disc surfaces. Retract the caliper pistons using an appropriate tool, install the pads in the correct orientation and refit the calipers using the applicable tightening specifications. Operate the brake pedal until firm before moving the vehicle, check the brake-fluid level and bed in the new pads according to the brake-pad manufacturer’s instructions.
