RIDEX 658W0008 M12 × 1.5 Conical Wheel Nut – Single
Replacement RIDEX closed-end wheel nut suitable for Mazda MX-5 models using an M12 × 1.5 wheel-stud thread, 21 mm hex and compatible conical-seat wheel.
The wheel nut threads onto the wheel stud and clamps the road wheel securely against the wheel hub. Its conical seating face centres against the corresponding tapered wheel-nut seat as the nut is tightened.
Quantity: Sold individually. Order four nuts for one standard Mazda MX-5 road wheel, or the quantity required to replace missing or damaged nuts.
Important wheel-seat check: The thread alone does not confirm compatibility. This nut must only be used with a wheel designed for the corresponding conical seating profile. Some aftermarket wheels, specialist wheels and locking-wheel-nut arrangements may require a different seat, diameter or nut length.
Common reasons for replacement include damaged or rounded hex flats, stretched or contaminated threads, corrosion, a missing wheel nut, distorted seating faces or replacement of unsuitable hardware previously fitted to the vehicle.

Fitment advice: MazSpec confirms this nut across the Mazda MX-5 NA, NB, NC and ND ranges. Before installation, confirm an M12 × 1.5 stud thread, 21 mm hex requirement and matching conical wheel seat. Check that the nut provides sufficient thread engagement without bottoming against the stud or contacting the wheel incorrectly.
Other items to consider: Inspect the wheel studs for damaged, stretched or corroded threads. Also check the wheel-nut seating surfaces, wheel mounting face, hub face and remaining wheel nuts. Replace any stud or nut showing cross-threading, cracking, deformation or severe corrosion.
Useful tools / consumables: Correct 21 mm six-point socket, breaker bar, calibrated torque wrench, wheel-removal equipment and suitable wheel chocks. Do not apply grease or anti-seize to the threads unless the vehicle or wheel manufacturer specifically requires it, as lubrication changes the achieved clamping force.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Easy. Correct seating, clean threads and final tightening with a calibrated torque wrench remain essential safety requirements.
Why RIDEX? RIDEX wheel fasteners provide a cost-effective replacement option manufactured to defined thread, seating and hex dimensions. Correctly matched wheel nuts restore secure wheel clamping when the original hardware is missing, damaged or corroded.
What’s in the box: One RIDEX wheel nut. Wheel stud, locking key, socket and other wheel hardware are not included.
Installation notes: Secure the vehicle against movement and support it correctly if the wheel is removed. Clean and inspect the wheel stud and nut threads. Start the nut by hand for several complete turns to prevent cross-threading. Confirm that the conical face seats evenly against the wheel. Tighten all wheel nuts progressively in a diagonal sequence, then apply the vehicle or wheel manufacturer’s specified torque using a calibrated torque wrench. Recheck the wheel-nut torque after the wheel manufacturer’s recommended settling distance, particularly after fitting replacement or aftermarket wheels.
