Replacement pair of RIDEX internally vented front brake discs for Mazda MX-5 Mk2/NB and Mk2.5/NB-FL 1.8 Sport models fitted with the factory large-brake package.

The brake discs rotate with the front wheel hubs and provide the friction surfaces against which the front brake pads clamp. This converts the vehicle’s kinetic energy into heat and slows the vehicle.

These internally vented cast-iron discs measure approximately 270 mm in diameter and 22 mm thick. The internal ventilation channels help dissipate heat during repeated braking.

Fitment advice: These discs correspond with Mazda reference families N06Y-33-25X and N0YY-33-25X. They are intended for applicable MX-5 Mk2/NB and Mk2.5/NB-FL 1.8 Sport models using the factory large-brake package. Before ordering, compare the original disc diameter, thickness, overall height, centre bore and OE reference. Standard-brake models use smaller front discs and require a different component.

Other items to consider: Brake discs should normally be replaced in axle pairs together with a suitable new front brake-pad set. Also inspect the brake-caliper pistons, slider pins, dust boots, pad fitting hardware, flexible brake hoses, wheel-hub faces and brake-fluid condition.

Installation notes: Support the vehicle securely and remove both front wheels. Remove the brake calipers and support them without allowing their weight to hang from the flexible brake hoses. Remove the caliper carriers and existing discs. Clean the wheel-hub faces thoroughly and remove corrosion or debris that could cause disc run-out. Degrease the braking surfaces of the new discs using suitable brake cleaner. Install each disc squarely against its hub and refit the caliper carriers and calipers using the applicable tightening specifications. Fit new brake pads where appropriate and confirm that the caliper sliders move freely. Refit the wheels and tighten the wheel nuts to the correct torque. Operate the brake pedal until firm before moving the vehicle, then bed in the new discs and pads according to the brake-pad manufacturer’s instructions.
