RIDEX 8A1396 Engine Air Filter

Replacement RIDEX panel air filter for Mazda MX-5 Mk4/ND and ND RF 1.5 and 2.0-litre petrol models listed in the compatibility table.

The engine air filter traps dust, grit, insects and other airborne contamination before the intake air reaches the engine. Maintaining a clean filter helps support unrestricted airflow, consistent engine performance and protection of the mass-airflow sensor, throttle body and internal engine components.

The filter is installed inside the engine-bay air-filter housing. One filter is required per vehicle and one rectangular filter insert is supplied.

The air filter should normally be renewed as part of routine engine servicing. Replacement may also be required if the filter is visibly dirty, wet, damaged or distorted, or if restricted airflow is contributing to reduced engine response or increased fuel consumption. Fitment advice: This filter is intended for the confirmed Mazda MX-5 ND and RF 1.5 and 2.0-litre petrol applications shown in the compatibility table. Ensure the replacement filter sits evenly within the airbox and that its sealing edge matches the filter being removed. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number or component style on the part being replaced is recommended.

Other items to consider: When changing this part, you may also want to consider purchasing an engine oil filter, suitable engine oil, sump-plug sealing washer, spark plugs, cabin filter, intake-hose clips or airbox fixings where required.

Installation notes: Switch off the engine and open the air-filter housing according to the vehicle layout. Note the orientation of the existing filter before removal. Clean loose debris from the dirty side of the housing without allowing contamination to enter the intake tract. Position the new filter squarely in the housing, ensuring that the sealing edge is fully seated and not folded or trapped. Close and secure the airbox, then check that all intake hoses, clips and electrical connections disturbed during access are correctly refitted.
