Installation / Service Notes: Allow the engine to cool completely before beginning work. Safely access the engine cooling system and drain the coolant into a suitable container. Remove the necessary engine covers, auxiliary drive components and associated fittings to access the water pump. Release the drive belt and remove the water pump pulley as required. Disconnect the water pump from the engine and remove the original sealing ring. Clean the pump mounting surface carefully, removing residual sealing material and contamination without damaging the mating surfaces. Position the new sealing ring and install the replacement STARK water pump using the correct mounting hardware and tightening sequence. Transfer the serviceable original pulley and refit the auxiliary drive belt, ensuring correct belt routing and tension. Reassemble the removed components and refill the cooling system with coolant meeting Mazda's specified requirements. Bleed air from the cooling system using the correct procedure. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature while monitoring coolant circulation, temperature and leaks. Recheck the coolant level after the engine has cooled and carry out a final inspection before returning the vehicle to service.
