Red Line Lead Substitute Petrol Additive – 355ml • 60202

Red Line concentrated petrol additive for older racing, marine and off-road petrol engines originally designed to operate on leaded fuel.

Red Line Lead Substitute is designed to help protect exhaust valve seats in older engines that have not been converted to hardened valve seats. This can be particularly relevant where an engine was originally developed to rely on the lubricating and protective properties associated with leaded petrol.

The formulation also helps clean deposits from carburettors and fuel injectors. Red Line states that the product is safe for catalytic converters. It is a lead substitute rather than an octane booster and should not be expected to increase the fuel’s octane rating.

Each bottle contains 12 US fl oz, approximately 355ml, and treats up to 25 US gallons or approximately 95 litres of petrol. For smaller tanks or fuel quantities, measure the additive proportionally rather than adding the complete bottle.

Common reasons for use include operating a historic engine on modern unleaded petrol, protecting untreated valve seats in racing or off-road engines, and supporting the maintenance of older carburetted fuel systems. This additive cannot repair worn valve seats, burnt valves, carburettor faults, blocked injectors or other mechanical engine damage.

  • Product type: Concentrated lead-substitute petrol additive
  • Primary use: Helping protect valve seats in engines designed for leaded petrol
  • Location / system: Petrol fuel tank and engine fuel system
  • Brand: Red Line Synthetic Oil
  • Product reference / SKU: 60202
  • Container size: 12 US fl oz / approximately 355ml
  • Treatment capacity: Up to 25 US gallons / approximately 95 litres of petrol
  • Additional function: Helps clean carburettor and fuel-injector deposits
  • Catalytic-converter compatibility: Stated by Red Line to be safe for catalytic converters
  • Application type: Older racing, marine and off-road petrol engines
  • Application restriction: Racing, marine or off-road use only
  • Fuel restriction: Not intended for diesel fuel systems
  • Octane note: Lead substitute only; does not increase fuel octane

Application advice: Add the appropriate measured quantity directly to the petrol fuel tank. One complete bottle treats up to approximately 95 litres, so reduce the dose proportionally for smaller fuel quantities. Use only in compatible petrol engines originally designed for leaded fuel or where a lead-substitute additive is required.

Other items to consider: When servicing an older fuel system, you may also want to consider purchasing a replacement fuel filter, spark plugs, carburettor service components, fuel hose, hose clips, injector seals and a suitable fuel-system cleaner.

Useful tools / consumables: A graduated measuring container, suitable fuel funnel, protective gloves, eye protection, absorbent materials and an approved petrol container may be useful when handling fuel and additives.

Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Easy. The additive is poured into the petrol tank, but the correct dose should be measured and petrol must be handled away from flames, sparks and hot surfaces.

Why Red Line? Red Line Synthetic Oil is known for high-performance lubricants, fluids and additives developed for demanding road, track and motorsport use. Red Line products are chosen by enthusiasts and workshops for their focus on protection, thermal stability, friction control and application-specific performance.

What’s in the bottle: One sealed 12 US fl oz / approximately 355ml bottle of Red Line Lead Substitute.

Service notes: Add only to the petrol fuel tank and follow the dosage instructions on the container. Do not add the product to the engine-oil system. This product does not increase octane and is not a substitute for mechanical valve-seat conversion where an engine requires permanent modification. Store securely with the cap closed and keep away from heat, sparks and ignition sources.
