Exedy MZK2120 3 Piece Clutch Kit
Replacement Exedy clutch kit for Mazda MX-5 MK1 / NA and MK2 / MK2.5 NB 1.6 manual-transmission models listed in the compatibility table.
Designed as an aftermarket replacement for the original component, this complete three-piece clutch kit provides the main friction components required when replacing a worn standard clutch while retaining smooth, progressive and road-friendly engagement characteristics.
The clutch is fitted between the engine and gearbox and transfers engine torque through the flywheel into the manual transmission. MZK2120 uses a 200mm, 22-spline clutch disc and is intended for the confirmed 1.6 MX-5 applications listed below.
Common reasons for clutch replacement include slipping under acceleration, judder when pulling away, difficulty selecting gears, release bearing noise, a high biting point or normal wear of the clutch friction material.

Fitment advice: MZK2120 is the 200mm clutch kit for the confirmed 1.6 MX-5 applications listed. It should not be selected for a 1.8 MX-5 solely because the vehicle shares the same generation. For imported, modified or previously repaired cars, matching the part number or component style on the part being replaced is recommended.
Other items to consider: When replacing the clutch, inspect the flywheel, clutch fork and pivot components, clutch slave cylinder, gearbox input seal and rear engine seal while access is available. Gearbox oil may also be worth replacing while the transmission is removed.
Useful tools / consumables: Clutch alignment tool, torque wrench, suitable gearbox jack or transmission support, brake cleaner and appropriate high-temperature clutch / spline grease.
Difficulty guide: DIY Difficulty: Advanced. Clutch replacement requires removal of the gearbox together with correct clutch alignment and tightening of the clutch assembly to the appropriate specifications.
